Resolution 4-2017: University Hospital Arrest

In the Central Committee of the Libertarian Party of Weber County

September 9th, 2017

Whereas, The Libertarian Party of Weber County holds that criminal laws should be limited to violations of the rights of others through force or fraud, or deliberate actions that place others involuntarily at significant risk of harm;

Whereas, The Libertarian Party of Weber County holds that Government agencies, their representatives, contractors and/or employees should never be exempted from laws, statutes, and regulations applicable to everyone else;

Whereas, Detective Jeff Payne of the Salt Lake Police Department wrongfully detained Alex Wubbels, a Charge Nurse at University Hospital;

Whereas, Detective Jeff Payne of the Salt Lake Police Department knowingly attempted to violate HIPPA;

Whereas, Detective Jeff Payne of the Salt Lake Police Department willingly violated the fourth amendment;

Whereas, Detective Jeff Payne of the Salt Lake Police Department willingly neglected all information provided by University Hospital staff of law and policy;

Whereas, Detective Jeff Payne of the Salt Lake Police Department willingly neglected the need for a warrant issued upon probable cause;

Whereas, Detective Jeff Payne of the Salt Lake Police Department used the commission of force, falling under the definition of assault under Utah Criminal Code;

Whereas, the video obtained of the incident occurring July 26, 2017 shows ample evidence of wrongful arrest, illegal detention, assault, and unprofessional comments;

BE IT RESOLVED:

  1. We the Members of the Libertarian Party of Weber County call for the immediate firing of Detective Jeff Payne;
  2. We the Members of the Libertarian Party of Weber County call for the immediate criminal investigation of Detective Jeff Payne;
  3. We the Members of the Libertarian Party of Weber County call for a review of all police procedures in the state to ensure the preservation of Natural Rights.
